The Polaris Tent/s design won honors as a finalist in the International Green Tent Competition for its creative repurposing of materials and innovative collaborative architecture.
The Polaris design actively seeks to protect both environment and culture for future generations. Integrated flexible photovoltaic cells generate electricity to recharge electronics such as cameras, camcorders and radios. The structure is comprised of two distinct areas, private sleeping quarters and a covered public area. The vestibule provides shade from the sun and cover from the rain, creating the main living space. The interior is comfortable, but modest, facilitating group interaction outside. The unique architecture of Polaris enables users to connect their dwellings to create spaces that foster communication, interaction, and build communities.
