Diego Rotalde
First of all, Diego feels pretty strange writing about himself.
That being said, here we go. A natural of Lima, Peru, Diego studied K-12 at Markham College, where he learned how to read and write the (in)famous English language with the help of Roald Dahl. Upon his arrival at Yale University in Aug. 2001, he realized speaking a language actually required practice…thought which began the (almost) impossible odisey of understanding American Culture with the help of his college friends. An artist at heart, Diego dropped the Mechanical Engineering Major after a disastrous junior year, and managed to spend most of his remaining college days taking non-core engineering courses and talking to his Art colleagues for credit (link to thesis). He is a fan of recycling any object, whether for environmental reasons or maybe because they were actually thrown away while still in perfect condition. Painting, drawing, dancing, a full stomach, and/or a good conversation make this guy extremely happy.
He is currently CEO of Cut&Paste Labs, a Vestal Design initiative to provide Third World college students with necessary know-how to build, and design professional-looking web pages. He hopes to apply to a Master’s Degree in Engineering/Product design in the near future and participate in community-wide recycling programs in development countries. Diego would appreciate if you could write to him to let him know of any other interesting career options. (diego@vestaldesign.com)
