In the design industry, we often find ourselves painstakingly navigating the USPTO website, searching for prior art and looking up patents, but those days may be gone forever! Only moments ago, Google just launched a beta site for Google Patent Search.

    Now this is something! Very exciting. I just blew an hour looking up various things that have been on the brain.

    I initially thought that the search results would just send me to a page on the USPTO site, or a similar hard to decipher site. But instead Google has pulled all the relevant information (and documents!) into an executive summary type page. So from that perspective, the usability is really fantastic.

    Thanks for the find. Google is really at it as rumour has it they are going to co-brand a cell phone with UK wireless provider Orange.
