Pop-Up Studio in NYC

Despite having the highest concentration of ‘artists’ in America, New York City lacks good studio spaces – especially ones that don’t cost $2700 a month for twelve square feet of Brooklyn real estate. So local artist Huong came up with her own solution: an 8×8x8 inflatable studio that she is willing to share in any of the five boroughs for up to three days in a row. Just sign up!

Perhaps the communist label lacks the power it once did, but for a variety of reasons – environmental, social, political – people are beginning to warm to sharing property on a city-wide scale, be it a Zipcar or a studio space. While most efforts are being made in big cities like New York and San Francisco, there’s nothing stopping you from putting together your own calendar and offering a service closer to home. If nothing else, it’s a good way to meet the neighbors.
