This service, run by NASA’s Earth Observatory, allows users to create QuickTime animations of various global datasets such as vegetation, sea surface temperature, and many many more. The above images are clips from a vegetation coverage animation from 1982-1998 – it’s amazing to see the vegetation spread and recede yearly like some kind of pulse… try it yourself!
