3d Modeling for Everyone
April 29th, 2006

Google just released Sketchup, the so-easy-your-grandmother-could-use-it-
and-make-sweet-stuff-with-it 3-d modeling program, free for everyone to use (originally $500.) Co-released is the 3D Warehouse, a website where users are encouraged to upload their models to a searchable database that anyone can then download into Sketchup or, if georeferenced (which anyone can do using Sketchup), in Google Earth. This totally beats model airplanes!

Two more totally sweet things (to reward those of you who dig):
1. Check out the comprehensive video tutorials Sketchup has to explain its product.
2. Open this kmz file in Google Earth to see an automatically updating map of all georeferenced Sketchup files posted to 3D Warehouse.
