Wearing Social Change Conference at Yale

March 15th, 2006

Vestal recently launched a website for the Wearing Social Change conference at Yale University – where a variety of speakers will be addressing questions about how environmental issues are embodied in style. Vanessa Margolis from the Nike Considered team will be speaking, as will Vestal friend Serge de Gheldere of Futureproof/ed eco design consulting. From the website:

From t-shirts and blazers to accessories, what we wear speaks volumes about the lifestyle we embrace and the values we embody.

Yet is sustainable clothing merely a trend or the future of fashion? What role does apparel play in the movement toward a more sustainable future? This series aims to address these questions and more by examining current industry practices and approaches to sustainable clothing.

More details will be posted soon – come if you can make it!

  1. Retro Sneakers Says:

I think Nike’s are going to the retro look now for the more casual crowd. Their athletic line is ugly, but I like the retro looking ones.
