MAU: Tyvek Clothing

More Tyvek craftiness: Designer Marian Schoettle at ConceptualClothing.com has been creating what she calls “post industrial folk wear” – much of it from Tyvek. Be patient with the Flash website – the photos are worth the effort.

    That’s pretty cool. At first glance, reminds me of the work by various Japanese fashion designers…(kawakubo rei, issey miyake, etc.)

    Looks like you covered a neat duct tape wallet on your site – it had grommets and all. The ones I’ve seen before are all pretty crappy. Wasn’t there some woman making purses or something?

    I guess the problem with MAU is that Tyvek is not easily recycleable, and doesn’t reuse a material – well, it’s 25% post consumer recycled, but that’s not great.

    So I found the purse site and it’s pretty cool (not the site, the purses. http://beckybot.com Woven duct tape… this could be done with other materials of course… more sustainable ones…
