MC Lars helps fight RIAA
February 3rd, 2006Recently, BoingBoing reported that Canadian music mega-label Nettwerk will be supporting a 15-year old girl and her family who are being sued by the RIAA for downloading music, an act which Nettwork claims “is a deterrent to creativity and passion, and it is hurting the business [we] love.” The girl had contacted MC Lars, an artist who’s music she identified with, who helped her obtain the support.
MC Lars happens to be a friend of ours here at Vestal Design, and we were excited to see him in the news. With his permission, we are making his song, Download This Song, available. His lyrics raise quite a few interesting points.

Interestingly, I believe it’s legal to download music in Canada. However, the RIAA is a US group, so I’m not sure how this works.
