Kayaks + Google Maps = Cheap Airfares?

February 27th, 2006

I’ve recently discovered a fantastic site for airfares- Kayak.com. My original dilemma was to find the cheapest possible airfares to somewhere in Europe this summer. Since I’ll be there for six weeks, where I landed wasn’t the issue, it was the prices! After muddling through sites like Expedia and Orbitz, I found Kayak.com’s Fare Buzz page, which uses Google Maps to show a list of destinations and prices. I quickly discovered that Boston to Dublin was the best option, and after another five minutes I had a cheap ticket from Dublin to Rome.

Their user interface is simply one of the best I’ve ever used. This is Web 2.0 done right.
