In-home Composting

January 30th, 2006

NatureMill is a composting system that sits in your kitchen and produces batches of finished compost every 2 weeks or so. It accepts dairy, meat, and fish, and has an odor trap which keeps your kitchen smelling nice. It draws 10 watts and is completely hands-off computer controlled – a great solution for those living in urban areas where outdoor compost is not possible. The only drawback is that it costs $400.

(I especially like the foot-pedal, a shout out to kitchen trash cans. Just wait, between this and better recycling, someday soon we won’t have to throw anything away.)
