Rocket NASCAR
October 3rd, 2005
Peter Diamandis, who founded the X-Prize, has announced his intention to launch a “rocket racing league” along the lines of NASCAR, with the goal of promoting commercial spaceflight, and hopefully advancing the technology. The prototype for the racing vehicle is the EZ Rocket built by XCOR Aerospace. Top speeds should be between 200 and 300 mph, and the league hopes to have 10 teams racing these things by 2007.

Interestingly, today during the Daily Show, I saw an ad for the Red Bull Air Race. (a prop plane race)
If you’re in the SF Bay Area, it looks like it’ll be a good show ; )
