MVEMJSUNP…

For those of you wondering, I just wrote the lovely acronym for the nine planets of our solar system (in order, of course, from the sun outwards): Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto—- BUT WAIT—- there’s more!!

This past January, astronomers at CalTech discovered a possible 10th planet. They have yet to determine its actual size, but it has been guesstimated that the object is larger than Pluto, enjoys long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, night time hikes…

The 10th planet is around nine billion miles away from the sun. Road trip, anyone?

Apparently they didn’t want to release this info to the general public. Someone “hacked” their computers, found the information, and threatened to go to the press unless the researchers released the news themselves… Or maybe it was just a disgruntled grad student.

wikipedia has a lot more detailed information on UB313, as it’s officially called right now.
i wonder if they’ll name it after a Roman god like the rest of them…

They’re also now saying that Pluto isn’t “technically” a planet, since they’ve found it to be made more out of ice than rock.

UB313 also sounds like the name of the Little Prince’s planet (Asteroid B-612).

    p.s. i’m totally in.
