Flatpak House Sweepstakes
August 14th, 2005
Flatpak is a company that makes IKEA-style flat-packing houses. They are based on a module of 8’x8’, and are quite nice-looking, as you can see. FLOR, a carpet-tile company which I’ll write about later, has been holding a sweepstakes, the winner of which will receive a small Flatpak house. By the time you read this, a winner will most likely have been announced. I’m going to admit here that I didn’t blog this until the sweepstakes ended, and I am ashamed of that. But I really want that house. You’re all invited to the housewarming party.

Not sure what you’re talking about. That is how the home looks, and it is really nice. You can layout the flatpak however you want, as long as it fits on a grid, so no, it doesn’t have to look like it’s pictured.

They’ve never given the house away… The whole thing was a dream.
Maybe they’ll claim no one entered the contest, and give the house to one of the writers for the magazine.
That’d be sweet.

contact shelley@dwellmag.com and ask her why they never gave the house away. It’s a sad, sad story of heroin addiction in the accounting department, embezzlement and nepotism.

Even though they still haven’t posted the winners name on the site, I can assure you it was a legit sweepstakes because I won it. It is now on loan to Walker Art Gallery for a prefab exhibition they are having December through March. You can probably Google them for more details.
