Winner of Apple’s Design Award, Plasq’s Comic Life 1.1 is sure to become a staple “must have” for all you MAC users (sorry PC groupies).

Comic Life 1.1 creates an interface for people to turn their every day photos into comic book-like scrap books, full of action packed visual sequences, photos reasterized to look comic-book pixellated, and don’t forget those super human powers (optional, of course). Just choose a template, adjust if necessary, click and drag your pictures in whatever sequence you choose, mess around with the filters, add some comment bubbles, and – voila! – you have just completed the first steps to creating a Marvel empire of the 21st century.

Be careful: it’s addicting.

how neat! I love encouraging people to create art, and a program that lets people explore that is great.

My gripe, tho, is this: too often comics follow the rigidly defined structure of “superman comics are the ideal aspiration” or “this is the way to draw a perfect anime character.”

My favorite comics are those that explore the definition of graphic story-telling, such as this one. (*disclaimer: this has way too many penises but, other than that, it’s great.)

Rather than imitating someone else’s terrific style, explore your own and change the vocabulary of comics forever.
