Reed College, in Portland, Oregon, has a ball drop every year at about 4am in the street during the end-of-year Renn Fayre festival. About 500-1000 kids line the street while a pickup or u-haul truck drives to the top of the hill and cuts loose. Great party.

be forewarned though: a high school in new jersey back when i went to school there, had several kids release thousands of bouncy balls in the hall between periods as part of a senior class prank.

Turned out to be so cool, the principal had a heart attack and the kids got expelled. Clearly some people don't know how to enjoy fun.

but other than that: w00t bouncy balls!
