Author, on Mississippi, in Homemade Raft
July 7th, 2005
Well, the title of this post pretty much sums it up, but boy howdy, do I want to do this. John Wray, author of Canaan’s Tongue, build the raft and travelled down the Mississippi doing book readings, to which not many people came. That aside, I just reread Tom Sawyer a month ago – imagine the excitement, the peace and quiet, the incredulous looks of passers-by… the NYTimes has the story.
Although I’d prefer the more advanced “raft” I designed with Alice B. Phillips this past year. Complete with rooftop garden, solar water-distillery, and folds up into 1/4 of a shipping container. Designed for refugee housing, a single container ship can deliver 25,000 units anywhere in the world in 20-30 days. Huck Finn of the future.

I like the picture of the raft that you designed with Alice, and would like more info. Do you have any links?
