12,000 Miles per Gallon

July 6th, 2005

The Toyota Prius and Honda Insight are great, but this 1 person “car” made by British petroleum company BOC can travel around the world (25,000 miles) on only 25 watts, the equivalent of 2 gallons of gasoline. Of course, to reduce weight, they’re getting a 13 year old to drive it when they go for the highest efficiency record. It still looks pretty neat, and I’d ride one to work if a) it went faster than 30 mph, and b) I didn’t work from home.

Still, the article points out that the “Ech2o”, as it’s called, gives car companies a lot to think about. Link

the sweetest part would be if you could park it vertically, with the nose pointing toward the sky. It would only take up a few square feet…
