NeoMecha in Alaska

In case you missed the flurry of posts on this a few months ago, an Alaskan metalworker Carlos Owens has been building an 18 foot tall robotic body for himself, which is self powered and will eventually sport flamethrowers and other weaponry. As of Tuesday, April 7th, the supporting frame was partially removed and the mecha was allowed to “stretch its legs”. Owens sees the mecha as a prototype for “sport mechas” which would battle in an arena, or potentially as firefighters or soldiers. More photos and a couple of movies at his website:

    kinda reminds me of ASIMO, Honda’s humanoid robot, considered one of the most advanced in the world.

    by DARPA, I take it you mean the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

    and yes, the US would use blenders in war if they could figure out a way to make it more cost-effective.
